The Sidney Hillman Foundation Announces 2014 Hillman Prizes for Excellence in Reporting in Service of the Common Good

Awards Ceremony Is Tuesday May 6 in New York City

NEW YORK - The Sidney Hillman Foundation announced today the winners of the 2014 Hillman Prizes in Journalism, given to journalists whose work identifies important social and economic issues and helps bring about change for the better.

This year, the Hillman Foundation recognized stories about for-profit prisons, the sometimes-deadly and largely unregulated U.S. daycare system, the medicine and politics of marijuana, and ocean acidification, the "lesser-known twin" of climate change. The Foundation also honored a pioneering progressive blogger and a book that redefines our understanding of the New Deal.
