THE EVENT:
The gala evening is the
signature event of American Rights at Work and has two primary goals. The
first goal is to bring together the labor community, in its broadest
definition, including all those who support it, to celebrate the efforts
of American Rights at Work. The second goal of the gala is recognize
individuals who have done outstanding work to help further workers'
rights and also good companies that treats workers with dignity and
respect, and have positive labor relations with their unions. The
Celebration usually attracts capacity crowd of 400-500 that reflects our
commitment to broadening and diversifying those who care about workers'
rights. Attendees include international union presidents, the media,
Congressional representatives and staff, our supporting foundations,
corporate representatives, and the leadership of many of our progressive
partners.

for Distinguished
Service to Labor's Rights, to Brother Wilhelm.
WDL will also honor two
outstanding New York union leaders, Raglan George Jr., Executive

Cheliotes, President of Local 1180, CWA.
The award dinner will
take place on Tuesday
evening, June 21, 2011 at the United Federation of Teachers
Building, 52 Broadway, in New York City.

Defense League has championed the union cause and assisted workers in
need.Today,WDL counsels and assists thousands of individual workers with
unemployment insurance claims and other rights. In the current economic
crisis, its expertise in unemployment insurance is especially important.
